Paperwork Needed to Sell or Buy a Car in Minnesota
1. Title Certificate
Ensure the title certificate is properly signed by both buyer and seller.
2. Bill of Sale
A completed bill of sale with vehicle details, sale price, and signatures of both parties.
3. Odometer Disclosure Statement
If the vehicle is less than 10 years old, provide an odometer disclosure statement.
4. Lien Release
If there’s an active lien on the vehicle, provide a lien release from the lender.
5. Notice of Sale
Complete and submit a notice of sale to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
